چکیده

Shot boundary detection is main step in video management systems like browsing and indexing. In this paper, we shortly describe an earlier proposed shot detection algorithm based on the structural properties of video frames. Two mathematical models for decision making, i.e. for similarity threshold determination are proposed and compared. The first model allows determination of threshold in case of using mean-square deviation for frames similarity and when the image pixel is assumed to be normal distributed random variable. The second model is based on using the structural similarity measure based on Weibull model for image gradient magnitude distribution. Global and adaptive approaches are considered for frames similarity threshold determination. Results of experiments to detect real video shots are given. It is shown that adaptive threshold determination method generally gives more acceptable results than global threshold determination method. At the same time the 2 W based threshold determination approach gives more accurate results than PSNR based approach, therewith corresponds to HVS perception.

Adaptive Spectral Separation Two Layer Coding with Error Concealment for Cell Loss Resilience

This paper addresses the issue of cell loss and its consequent effect on video quality in a packet video system, and examines possible compensative measures. In the system's enconder, adaptive spectral separation is used to develop a two-layer coding scheme comprising a high priority layer to carry essential video data and a low priority layer with data to enhance the video image. A two-step er...

A Rapid and Robust Method for Shot Boundary Detection and Classification in Uncompressed MPEG Video Sequences

Shot boundary and classification is the first and most important step for further analysis of video content. Shot transitions include abrupt changes and gradual changes. A rapid and robust method for shot boundary detection and classification in MPEG compressed sequences is proposed in this paper. We firstly only decode I frames partly in video sequences to generate DC images and then calculate...

Automatic Video Shot Change Classification using Optic Flow and Robust Pixel Difference Based Method

Shot change detection is an essential step in video content analysis. The field of Video Shot Detection (VSD) is a well exploited area. In the past, there have been numerous approaches designed to successfully detect shot boundaries for temporal segmentation. In this paper we present a procedure to detect and automatically classify Video shots. We present a method to detect shots using optic fl...

A Method of Video Shot-Boundary Detection based on Grey Modeling for Histogram Sequence

Video Shot-Boundary Detection is important for video analysis, segmentation and retrieval. The detection results of Shot-Boundary are not only relation with two nearest frames of shot cuts, but also their several neighboring frames. Video stream is multistream time sequence. Grey model based on set sequence (SGM) is proposed to analyze and process multi-stream time sequences constructed with sa...

Shot Boundary Detection Using Shifting of Image Frame

Detection of shot boundary is the key step for identification of visual content of the video data. In this paper we propose a method of shot boundary detection with a novel logic of frame comparison. In our method, current frame of the video data is compared with the shifted version of the previous frame of that video and by using suitable threshold, shot boundary is declared. The experimental ...
